Drug Uses
Denavir is a topical antiviral medication purposed to fight recurrent cold sores (herpes labialis) that appear on the lips and face in patients that are otherwise healthy. Denavir topical can also be applied for health conditions different than the listed ones.
How Taken
Denavir should be applied in the morning, after waking up for days in a roll. Apply on the cold sore, using your finger or a cotton swab. After that wash your hands with soap and water so that you can prevent the drug substance to get in touch with your eyes or other body parts and to stop the spreading of the virus.
Warnings/Precautions
Denavir is only for external use, for lips and face. You should not apply it on mucous membranes inside the mouth, nose, genital or rectal areas. Denavir topical is in the FDA pregnancy category B. It is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or if there is a chance to get pregnant during treatment. It is not known if Denavir gets into breast milk and whether it may have negative influences on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby
Missed Dose
I If you forget to take a dose, just dot as soon as you remember. If it is too close to the next dose, leave the missed one and follow your normal dose schedule. Do not take two doses at a time in order to catch up

Possible Side Effects
There are not observed any serious side effects regarding the use of Denavir. There may appear the following less bothersome symptoms: rash, headache, local numbness or tingling where the cream is applied; changes in taste; irritation at the affected area. There may also occur side effects that are not among the listed ones. If you experience any unusual condition, contact your doctor.
Storage
Keep at controlled room temperature, 20°-25°C (68°-77°) and away from heat and moist places.
Overdose
Denavir overdose is not life threatening. If you have put too much of the cream or if it has been ingested, you should contact the nearest poison control center or emergency room for advice.
More Information
You should not use any other topical drugs to apply on the same area at the same time while using Denavir, unless your doctor has given you different directions. Denavir is not known to interact with other drugs. If you use other drugs, first consult your doctor.
